Traditional Greek flavours, sumptuous seafood and charming vibes, Nikolas Taverna is a go-to spot to sample home cooking in Mykonos. Occupying a serene stretch of Paraga Beach, this family-run outlet has been keeping things authentic since 1967. Think recipes that have transcended three generations and yet, the flavours remain unchanged! Thanks to fresh produce from the farm to your table, Nikolas Taverna always gets the recipe to keep you coming back for more right.
The concept was created in the late 1960s by Nikolas Dahtilidis and his wife Katerina. Combining their passion to provide high-quality homemade food to the community, they brought a unique dining experience to a quaint spot on Paraga Beach. Since then, there's been no turning back. Their daughter, Anna Nazos, carried forward their legacy, who then handed the business to her son Nikolas. And the rest is history. In fact, locals will tell you, no visit to Mykonos is complete without sampling this authentic dining experience. We'd definitely recommend visiting at sunset – the views from Paraga Beach at this magical time of day are simply extraordinary.
So what can you expect on the menu? Nikolas Taverna's signature dishes are inspired by the very ingredients that grow in the family's vegetable and herb gardens. Meats come from the family's private farms while seafood is caught fresh daily by dedicated local fishermen.
Begin your day with a comforting cup of coffee, served with freshly baked bread and breakfast staples. For lunch and dinner, you can take your pick from fresh salads, Mykonian signatures, hot and cold appetisers, pastas, risottos, seafood dishes and grilled meats. There's also a special 'dish of the day' section, which your servers will guide you through, including Anna's homemade favourites, from veal with tomato sauce to lamb with potatoes drizzled with lemon sauce.
Some of the restaurant's must-try dishes include octopus in vinegar, fried baby shrimp, seafood spaghetti, feta puff pastry and fried zucchini balls. But feel free to explore further!
